The California Energy Efficiency Industry Council Announces Name Change
Santa Rosa, CA – The California Energy Efficiency Industry Council has changed its name to the California Efficiency + Demand Management Council (the Council). The name now reflects the broader set of businesses that the Council represents – businesses that have an interest in energy efficiency, demand response, and data analytics.
The new Council will continue to bring the business voice to traditional policy areas such as the energy efficiency proceedings at the CPUC. But we are also renewing our emphasis on key demand response activities at the CPUC and will be expanding efforts to integrate demand response into the CAISO market. The Council will also be diving deeper into the integration of all distributed energy resources.
The Council’s Board of Directors thought long and hard about this change, and indeed, the Council’s work has slowly been expanding to match the new name. In the end, it was agreed that efficiency, demand response and data analytics have many issues in common, and bringing them together under one trade association creates a more effective voice in the policy and legislative forums under the Council’s influence.
The business of all “behind the meter” technologies and services is rapidly changing and expanding and the Council is growing with the times – as the California Efficiency + Demand Management Council.
