Andrew Hoffman
Vice President of Market Development
Leap
Andrew has developed over a GW of clean energy– demand response, solar, and storage– over his past 15 years in energy. He leads Market Development at Leap, launching new demand response and grid services markets. Leap’s platform evolves distributed energy resources into grid actors, providing extra income for partners while enabling a resilient and clean grad.
Prior to Leap, Andrew directed strategy and policy at CalCom Energy, a leading US developer of solar and battery storage projects. Before CalCom, he managed the Demand Response team at Pacific Gas & Electric. His team operated over 600 MW of residential and commercial DR, as well as data platforms and services such as Share My Data. Prior, he built and managed DR portfolios throughout North America with EnerNOC. There he developed a variety of innovative DR products: load following & ancillary services for renewable balancing, sub-1 second frequency response, as well as a number of capacity products. Andrew has served as an expert witness at the California PUC on optimal dispatch of DR resources, as well as on North American capacity markets. He holds an MBA from UC Berkeley and a BA from Dartmouth. A self-professed ‘energy geek,’ Andrew has a solar+storage microgrid at his home and is committed to changing the world of energy to leave his children and future generations a world every bit as vibrant and diverse as the one we enjoy today.
