Maria Stamas is the Western Director of Energy Affordability at the Natural Resources Defense Council, where she advocates for equitable clean energy solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change. Maria testifies and participates in regulatory proceedings to advance clean energy policies and programs for lower-income and emerging communities, with a focus on improving the affordability, health and energy efficiency of rental housing. Maria co-leads the California Energy Efficiency for All Initiative, which has secured over $200 million in funds for affordable housing energy upgrades in California. She is an appointed member of California’s Low Income Oversight Board, a board member for Women Energy Associates, and a member of the California Bar Association. Maria holds a J.D. from Berkeley Law, an M.A. in Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. degree from Oberlin College.
